Rare pair of mannequin dolls

Rare pair of mannequin dolls, in polychrome wood and papier-mâché, jointed and dressed in sumptuous richly embroidered silk dresses.

Both dresses feature refined flowers, racemes with lace inserts in silver thread.

The faces, in paper mache, have both the original polychrome as well as the hair.

A doll’s neck has an old crack, attributable to a fall.

the papier-mâché hands have undergone some reinstatement and restoration.

Everything else is in perfect patina as are the respective heads and bodies.

The limbs are articulated and on the ivory lacquered feet some blue-gray shoes are painted.
