Pair of rare obelisks in alabaster and green serpentine porphyry
Pair of rare obelisks in alabaster and green serpentine porphyry. The alabaster obelisks are engraved with the bas-relief technique with Egyptian characters, depicting hieroglyphs and are surmounted by a sphere with a metal tip with traces of gilding. The bases on which they rest are interspersed with elements in serpentine green porphyry. The hooks present have been moved after some very old restorations, like those in some other points. the marbles are in their original patina and the conditions are compatible with the age and use.These collectibles, according to the fashion of the grand tour are inspired by the ancient Egyptian obelisks, (nine are present in Rome) born mostly in Heliopolis, Egypt.
