Painting Dog and Green Lizard
Interesting oil painting on canvas, really special for us, not only for its pictorial quality, but also for the unusual composition of the animals that are depicted here. The painting, inserted in its beautiful carved and gilded frame of origin, in patina, contains an apparent hunting scene.
It would seem that the deep-eyed dog, crouched on some steps, has ripped off the leash, a very unusual detail and then further down, lies a prey, a finely detailed bird.
Up to now, the painting could be Italian, but according to our interpretation, the green lizard at the base of the painting near the undergrowth vegetation would suggest a Flemish painter who worked in Italy at that time.
The delicate background consisting of a landscape and the elements of a nature with perfect and delicate light, help to create the focus on the multiple interpretations of the symbols of the scene, almost humanized. The dog has always symbolized fidelity and other animals play an intriguing role, letting the viewer reflect.
Surely observing all the details, excellently painted, a different perception emerges from the usual scenes with game and hunting dogs.
